Signlo — Community Guidelines

Effective date: 3 September 2026
Provider: Signlo, Inc., a Delaware corporation, 8 The Green #25812, Dover, DE 19901, United States

Signlo is a home for Deaf and signing people. These guidelines say what belongs here, what does not, and what happens when someone crosses the line. They are part of the Terms of Service — breaking them can cost you your account.

1. The short version

2. Not allowed, ever

Anything involving a child

Child sexual abuse material, sexualisation of a minor, grooming, or soliciting a minor. This is zero-tolerance: the account is removed and the material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and, where the law requires, to law enforcement. See our Child Safety Standards.

Sexual content

Signlo is not a dating or adult app. No nudity, sexual content, or solicitation, directed at anyone.

Attacking people

Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or hate speech targeting people for who they are — including deafness, disability, race, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Audism counts. Content that demeans Deaf people, mocks signing, or treats sign language as lesser is hate speech here, and we will say so plainly rather than file it under "rude".

Violence and self-harm

Violence, incitement to violence, or content promoting self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. If you are struggling, reach out — we would rather hear from you than remove you.

Deception

Spam, scams, fraud, deceptive links, impersonating another person, or running more than one account to evade a ban.

Other people's work

Content you do not have the right to share. If someone has used your work, see Copyright and takedowns.

Attacking the service

Breaking, overloading, scraping, reverse-engineering, or circumventing the security of Signlo.

3. A note on sign-language video

Signing shows your face and your hands, so a video of you signing can identify you in a way a block of text cannot. Two things follow.

Treat other people's signing as identifying. Re-posting someone's signed video outside the audience they chose can expose them. Ask first.

Your name-sign is yours. Do not use someone else's name-sign to impersonate them.

4. Reporting

Every post, comment, profile, story, service listing and video call has a Report option, and you can block anyone. Blocking is silent and works both ways: they cannot see you, follow you, message you or call you, and they are never told.

Reporting in the app is faster than email and reaches a trained human reviewer directly. Do not wait for email if someone is in danger.

5. What we do, and how fast

What you reported When we respond
Child safety, or a credible threat to someone's life Acknowledged within 1 hour, acted on immediately
Harassment, hate, intimate images shared without consent Within 24 hours
Spam or other rule-breaking Within 72 hours

Content reported by several different people may be hidden automatically while a person reviews it. That is a pause, not a verdict.

6. If we act against you

Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may remove the content, limit what your account can do, suspend it, or remove it entirely.

We tell you in the app when we remove your content, and you can appeal. Appeal from that notification or from Settings → Appeal a moderation decision, tell us why you think we got it wrong, and follow it under Your appeals. A person reviews every appeal and we tell you the result.

If you think we got it wrong beyond the appeal, or you want to complain about how moderation was handled, write to support@signlo.com.

7. These guidelines will change

Signlo is young and this community will teach us things we have not thought of. When we change these guidelines we will say what changed, not just bump a date.
